There is something about a bake-off that brings out both the best and the quietly competitive in people. New Heights School is no exception.
On Thursday 26 March, Key Stage 3 hosted its annual Easter Bake-Off, and the brief was simple enough: staff bake, students judge. What followed was a parade of colour, creativity, and just a hint of tension as creations were carried in with the kind of care usually reserved for newborns.
Tables filled quickly. There were cakes that looked almost too good to cut, cupcakes that demanded a second look, and a few bold attempts that… well, had character. The students took their role seriously. Plenty of discussion, some tough calls, and more than a few close inspections.
The annual bake-off is not about taste. It is all about appearance. Presentation, detail, imagination. If it looked the part, it stood a chance.
In the end, there could only be one winner. No runners-up, no polite mentions. Winner takes all.
And this year, the title went to Erika Conway (No 10).

Fitting, really. When an art teacher enters a bake-off, you expect something a bit special. And she delivered. Style, detail, and a finish that clearly stood out from the rest.
Credit to everyone who took part. It’s not easy putting your work up for judgement, especially when the judges have such critical eyes!
Same time next year. And fair warning: standards have been set.
