Aspire is our newest subject at New Heights, created to help students grow in confidence, independence, and curiosity about the world around them. It brings together PSHE, Business, Literacy, Numeracy, Real-Life Skills, and General Knowledge in one practical and engaging programme.
In Aspire, students learn how to make informed choices, manage everyday challenges, and discover what it means to lead and succeed, both in school and beyond.
We are aspiring!
Lessons are hands-on and varied, with activities designed to build communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and financial awareness.
Students explore topics such as budgeting, workplace skills, media and digital literacy, emotional wellbeing, and global citizenship. Each topic links directly to real-life situations, showing how what they learn in the classroom can be used outside of it.
Aspire focuses on personal growth and practical application. Students are encouraged to reflect, discuss, and take ownership of their learning.
Through projects, challenges, and teamwork, they develop resilience, creativity, and a sense of responsibility – qualities that will serve them well throughout life.
Students are assessed through their participation, effort, and project outcomes.
Feedback is individual and constructive, helping each student recognise their strengths and identify next steps. Work may include written tasks, presentations, reflective journals, or group projects – celebrating progress in all its forms.
Aspire helps students connect what they learn with who they are becoming. They gain practical skills for managing money, building relationships, understanding current issues, and maintaining wellbeing.
Above all, Aspire gives them the confidence to handle life with empathy, common sense, and self-belief.
Aspire nurtures skills
The skills developed in Aspire are valuable in every path students might take—from business and education to healthcare, the arts, or public service.
By building communication, organisation, and critical thinking skills, Aspire sets a strong foundation for whatever comes next.
