Ambassadors

At New Heights School, our Ambassadors play an important role in shaping a positive, inclusive, and supportive school community.

Each Ambassador takes responsibility for an area that matters to our students, from student voice and safeguarding to attendance, literacy, SEND, rewards, communication, and preparing for life beyond school. Working closely with staff, they listen, represent, encourage, and support their peers, helping to ensure every student feels seen, valued, and heard.

This programme gives students real responsibility, builds confidence, and allows them to make a genuine contribution to daily school life, not as a token gesture, but as trusted voices helping to move the school forward.

Attendance Ambassador

Hi! My name is Charley, and I am the

Attendance Ambassador

As an attendance Ambassador in a school, my role is to help promote the importance of regular and punctual attendance. It is about encouraging students to understand why being in school every day matters for their learning, confidence, and future opportunities. The role focuses on creating a positive culture around attendance, where students feel supported, respected, and motivated to engage with their education.

I hope this role makes a real difference by helping students build good habits and feel more connected to school. By being a consistent and approachable presence, I aim to help remove barriers to attendance and encourage a sense of responsibility. Over time, I hope this leads to improved attitudes, better engagement, and stronger outcomes for the students I support.

In the long term, I hope this role contributes to a school environment where attendance is seen as a shared priority. By working with staff, students, and families, I aim to help create stronger communication and understanding around attendance. This can lead to a more positive school culture, where students feel valued and supported to reach their full potential.

Literacy Ambassador

Hi! My name is Rachael, and I am the

Literacy Ambassador

In my role as the Literacy Ambassador at New Heights School, I lead our Word of the Day initiative, which is all about helping students build their vocabulary and improve their communication skills. Every day, I choose a new word and display it on our Word of the Day board. I explain what the word means, how to pronounce it, and how it can be used in sentences. I also use images to help make the meaning clearer, especially for students who learn better with visuals.

I encourage students to try using the word in their speaking and writing throughout the day, whether in class, in conversations, or in their work. My aim is to make learning new words fun and less intimidating, so everyone feels confident giving it a try.

Through this role, I help create a positive learning environment where students can grow their language skills at their own pace. I support their academic progress and try to make literacy feel engaging, enjoyable, and accessible for everyone across the school.

Hi! My name is Lewis, and I am the

Moving-On Ambassador

Having recently finished my own time at school, I know what it feels like to be at this stage, the excitement, the uncertainty, and everything in between. Because of this, I want to support students as they prepare for their next steps and help make the whole process feel a bit less overwhelming.

As an Ambassador, my job is to represent the school in a positive way, support younger students, and share my own experiences so they can feel more confident about their own future paths. I try to be approachable and easy to talk to, and I aim to be a responsible, positive role model who encourages others to make the most of their time at school. I also try to promote the school’s values through my actions and attitude every day.

Leaving our school can feel like a huge change, and it’s normal for students to have lots of questions or worries about what comes next. Part of my role is to help with that. I talk to students, answer their questions as best I can, and offer support wherever it’s needed. I’m here to help students feel more prepared and confident about the journey ahead.

Newsletter Ambassador

Hi! My name is Emma, and I am the

Newsletter Ambassador

As a Newsletter Ambassador, I help in keeping our school community informed and connected. My role involves gathering news, celebrating achievements, and sharing important updates in a clear and engaging way. I work closely with staff and students to highlight events, showcase successes, and give everyone a voice within our school newsletter.

By helping to create informative and positive content, I aim to make sure every student feels represented and every family feels involved in school life. Through this role, I help strengthen communication across the school and contribute to a stronger, more connected community.

In this role, I also help make the newsletter engaging and enjoyable by involving students directly in the process. I work with student editors who help gather stories, check content, and share creative ideas to make each edition more interesting and relatable. By giving students a voice in the editorial process, we create a newsletter that truly reflects the school community.

Together, we highlight achievements, share important updates, and include a range of student perspectives. This teamwork strengthens communication, builds confidence, and ensures the great things happening in our school are recognised and celebrated.

Hi! My name is Luke, and I am the

Rewards Ambassador

My role as a Rewards Ambassador is to support students by providing them with positive goals to work towards through healthy competition. This role encourages motivation and engagement by giving students a clear objective to aim for throughout the term. By promoting fair and supportive competition, students are inspired to put in consistent effort and remain focused on their progress.

As part of this role, I am responsible for setting up challenges that students can participate in over the course of the term. These challenges are designed to be achievable while still encouraging students to push themselves and stay committed. By working towards a shared goal, students develop determination, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility for their own success.

At the end of each term, students who achieve a top position are rewarded, helping them feel a strong sense of accomplishment. The reward system reinforces the idea that success is earned through effort and perseverance. Overall, this role helps create a positive school environment where students feel motivated, valued, and proud of what they have achieved.

Safeguarding Ambassador

Hi! My name is Faye, and I am the

Safeguarding Ambassador

As a School Safeguarding Ambassador, I help make sure our school is a safe and supportive place for everyone. I work with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to spread awareness about things like online safety, bullying, and peer‑on‑peer issues. I also get involved in safeguarding campaigns and encourage other students to speak up if something is worrying them.

I try to be someone others feel comfortable talking to. I’m around school as a friendly, approachable face, and I try to set a good example by acting respectfully and safely. Even though I’m there to listen, I don’t investigate anything myself and I can’t keep things secret if someone might be at risk. If someone shares a concern with me, I pass it straight to the DSL or Deputy DSL, just like our school policy says.

I also give feedback from students about how safe they feel in school and share ideas about how things could be improved.

Hi! My name is Carl, and I am the

SEND Ambassador

Being an Ambassador for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) plays an important role in creating inclusive, supportive school environments.

A SEND Ambassador helps raise awareness of the diverse needs that students may have, ensuring that teachers, support staff, and peers understand how to respond with empathy and practical strategies. By promoting positive attitudes toward neurodiversity, physical disabilities, and learning differences, an Ambassador helps make inclusion a visible, everyday priority rather than an occasional consideration. This creates a school culture where every student feels seen, valued, and able to thrive.

As SEND Ambassador I will work with the SENDCo to develop a SEND Focus approach, sharing information with staff about various SEND issues such as Sensory Processing. I will have the opportunity to help to develop resources, contribute to staff training.

All of our students are on the SEND register to ensure they all have the focus and time required to help support them. We value each and every one of the 4 primary areas of need and with my support, work hard in ensuring we are inclusive and supportive.

Hi! My name is Michelle, and I am the

Student Voice Ambassador

As a student voice Ambassador, my main role is to represent the voices of the students and make sure everyone feels heard and valued. I spend a lot of time listening to what students need, what they’re struggling with, and what they’d like to see improved. I try to be someone they feel comfortable approaching, whether it’s to share an idea, talk about something that’s bothering them, or just ask for support. My goal is to make sure their opinions are passed on and that they know they matter.

Being in this role has helped me become more confident in speaking up, working with others, and understanding different points of view. I’ve learned how important it is to communicate clearly, follow up on concerns, and help create a positive school environment where everyone feels included. It’s a responsibility I take seriously, and it’s been really rewarding to know that I can make a difference by supporting our students and helping their voices be heard.
