Wonderland Retreat – Key Stage 3’s Reading Room

Welcome to the Wonderland Retreat - A Space Where Imagination and Wellbeing Flourish.
The mad hatter in New Heights School's reading room

New Heights School is proud to unveil the Wonderland Retreat, a beautifully crafted
sanctuary within our Key Stage 3 provision. Inspired by the magic and curiosity of
Alice in Wonderland, this unique space has been designed to nurture creativity,
calm, and a love of reading for every student who steps inside.

This extraordinary project has been made possible through the generous funding
and support of Children’s Charity Merseyside, whose belief in our vision has
helped transform a dream into a truly magical space for our young people.

Inside the Wonderland Retreat, students can relax beneath the Reading Nook’s
blossom tree, gather around the Mad Hatter’s Table to share ideas, explore sensory
features designed to support wellbeing, and take inspiration from the self-care
mirrors that remind every child they are enough.

Every detail has been chosen with
purpose, care, and a commitment to creating a safe, inspiring environment where
imagination and wellbeing go hand in hand.

More than just a room, the Wonderland Retreat represents our belief that education
should inspire both the mind and the heart. It is a place where students can pause,
reflect, discover new stories, and reconnect with the joy of reading in a world often
filled with noise and screens.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Children’s Charity Merseyside and to the dedicated
staff and students whose creativity and hard work brought this vision to life. The
Wonderland Retreat now stands as a testament to what can be achieved when
imagination, community, and compassion come together.

Step inside… and welcome to Wonderland.
