Sports Day at Key Stage 2 – 2026

What a brilliant day we had at Sports Day!

We were lucky with the weather and, more importantly, lucky to spend the day watching our children laugh, encourage each other and have a go at something different.

Here at KS2, we believe that life skills come in all kinds of forms. Winning a race is great, but so is cheering on a friend, working as part of a team, showing resilience when something is difficult, and picking yourself up to try again. That’s exactly what we saw all day.

The children worked in mixed teams across the school, giving them the chance to support classmates they might not usually work with. It was lovely to see pupils helping each other, celebrating successes and showing real team spirit. There was plenty of healthy competition, but even more kindness and encouragement.

Of course, the staff couldn’t stay out of it! The teacher races brought lots of laughs, with the children shouting, cheering and willing their favourites on. We’re not saying the staff were competitive… but some of them might still be talking about who crossed the finish line first!

Days like this remind us that school is about so much more than what happens in the classroom. It’s about building confidence, friendships, resilience and memories that make children smile when they look back on their time with us.

A huge well done to every child who took part. You represented New Heights brilliantly and made us all very proud.

Thank you to our families for your continued support and to our amazing staff team for making the day such a success.

The smiles said it all!
