On the 4th of February 2025, KS2 students had the privilege of hosting members of our local police force for a special visit that combined education, discussion, and hands-on experiences. This visit was an incredible opportunity for our students to engage with officers, learn about the role of the police, and explore the importance of making positive choices as responsible British citizens.

The visit began with the police officers joining students for lunch, creating an informal and friendly atmosphere that allowed for open conversations. During this time, students engaged in discussions about our core attitudes to learning—Ready, Respectful, Safe—and explored how these values align with making the right choices in life. The officers shared valuable insights into their responsibilities and explained what can and cannot happen when individuals make decisions that go against the law.

A highlight of the discussion was the officers sharing their personal journeys into the police force, including previous careers such as serving in the army. This provided an inspirational look at different pathways into law enforcement and highlighted the diverse experiences that contribute to the police force.

Following lunch, the excitement continued as students had the opportunity to explore police vehicles and equipment. They were thrilled to step inside two separate police vans, sit on a police motorbike, and examine various pieces of police gear. One of the most engaging parts of the visit was experiencing what it felt like to be placed inside a locked cell at the back of a police van—offering a realistic and thought-provoking perspective on the consequences of certain actions. Additionally, students got to sit in the driver’s seat and even sound the sirens, adding to the immersive experience.

This visit was an unforgettable learning experience for our students, reinforcing the importance of responsibility, good decision-making, and respect for the law. The interaction with the police officers not only educated but also inspired many young minds, making it a truly memorable day at KS2.
