On Wednesday, 29th January 2025, New Heights KS2 hosted an unforgettable Military Day, where students were immersed in an action-packed experience designed to build teamwork, resilience, and a deeper understanding of the British Army and Royal Air Force.
The students were split into two teams, each striving to develop their skills across a variety of challenges. The day was structured around the principle that a team is only as strong as its weakest member, encouraging everyone to support one another, boost morale, and allow every student to shine in their own unique way.
A Day of Immersive Military Experiences

From the very start, the atmosphere was set with students dressing in military-style clothing and applying camouflage face paint, a fantastic touch provided by one of our own students. Throughout the day, they took part in a series of exciting activities, including:
🔹 Taste Testing – A chance to experience military-style rations and compare them to everyday food.
🔹 Military Talks & Memorabilia – Learning about the roles, history, and importance of the British Armed Forces, with real artefacts to explore.
🔹 Coding Exercises – Enhancing strategic thinking and problem-solving skills in a military-themed setting.
🔹 Sports & Team Challenges – Outdoor and indoor competitions designed to test endurance, communication, and collaboration.
Every challenge encouraged students to work together, ensuring that every individual’s strengths were recognised and valued.
And the Winners Are…
After an intense day of teamwork and competition, both teams gathered for the celebration assembly, where the final points were tallied. In a close-fought contest, the Army team emerged victorious! The day concluded with cheers, pride, and a sense of accomplishment felt by all.
Military Day at New Heights KS2 was not just about competition; it was a powerful lesson in leadership, perseverance, and unity. A huge thank you to all students, staff, and military representatives who made this event a resounding success!
