About Kinship Carers Liverpool
Many grandparents, relatives and family friends bring up other people’s children, helping the family stay together. If you are one of these kinship carers playing this vital role in our community, we are here to help you.
Since the 1990s, we have been working hard to support people who look after a family member’s or friend’s child in their own home, on a full-time basis. Kinship Carers Liverpool is a registered charity that is here to support all members of kinship families in the community: carers, children and young people.
Kinship carers are important members of our community: providing a safe home for many children and young people who may otherwise be in local authority care.
Kin families come in all shapes and sizes! We work with kin kids as young as 6 months and many of our kin carers are in their sixties and seventies. Whatever your age and circumstances, you are welcome to get in touch with us for a chat, or come along and join us.
We’re here to help!
You may be just starting out as a kin carer – trying to navigate and find a way through the maze of regulations and issues you are coming up against, be it legal, family, or parenting issues. Or you may have been looking after your kin child or young person for years, and just need a bit of advice or support.
We are here to help you access services, link you up with other kinship families, and get you involved with free activities for you and your family – to help your family be one in which you and your kin children are thriving.
We are based at the Ellergreen Community Centre, Norris Green, Liverpool. Working across the city, we are here to help you.
