Wherever possible, all teachers should link their curriculum learning with careers.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subject teachers should highlight the relevance of STEM subjects for a wide range of future career paths.

By the age of 14, every pupil should have had the opportunity to learn how the different STEM subjects help people to gain entry to a wide range of careers.

All subject teachers emphasise the importance of succeeding in English and Maths.

Having classroom displays detailing links to skills taught in the classroom and those skills sought by employers is a good way to promote those valuable links.

Some ideas to engage your classes:

• Show a short video clip as a starter activity using the resources on icould / firstcareers or BBC Bitesize Careers to show the relevance of lessons for possible future careers.
• Discuss careers linked to specific parts of your curriculum – information for which can be found here.
• Career Pilot also offers lots of inspiring ideas and can be found here.
• Utilise some of the STEM careers resources found here.
• Take into account growth industries in the Liverpool City Region, information for which can be found here.
• Visit the Forum Talent Potential website to view case studies about employer-linked curriculum projects by clicking here.
• Request support from your Careers Leader to arrange for a guest speaker to talk to pupils about careers or to arrange a visit to one of our employer partners.
