Danny's Place presentation with Mandy Jamieson

Danny’s Place Presentation

On 22 February 2024, New Heights School, Key Stage 3 was privileged to host the inspiring Mandy Jamieson, who courageously shared her personal journey with our students. Mandy, who sadly lost her son Danny to knife crime, offered a poignant first-hand account of the profound ripple effects of knife crime affecting families.

During Mandy’s presentation, our students exhibited exceptional maturity and empathy, conducting themselves with the utmost respect and consideration. Their engaged and thoughtful demeanour emphasised their sincere appreciation for the gravity of the topic at hand.

The sessions with Mandy have undoubtedly left an indelible mark on our students, offering them profound insights into the harsh realities and lasting impact that knife crime can have on individuals and families. It is our hope that these experiences will serve as a catalyst for long-lasting change, influencing their perspectives on the dangers associated with carrying a knife or being associated with those who do. By fostering an environment of awareness and empathy, we believe that our students are now better equipped to contribute positively to their communities and actively discourage behaviours that may lead to such tragic consequences. We extend our gratitude to Mandy Jamieson for her bravery in sharing her story, as well as to our students for their respectful and considerate engagement during these sessions
