New Heights School KS3 celebrated Chinese New Year in lots of different ways. Ms Ronan held an assembly and talked about 2025 being the Year of the Snake. She talked about how they are used to represent what people may be like and how for ‘Snake’.

The Liverpool Museum says: “The Snake is wise and very intense with a tendency towards physical beauty. This member of the Chinese zodiac can often be vain with a fiery temperament. The Snake has different meanings for different parts of Chinese culture, with some believing the Snake is a strong protector whilst others believe it can be untrustworthy. Look for the Chicken or the Ox for happiness. The Pig is your enemy.”

The assembly was incredibly interesting and it was fun to find out what year other staff were born and to compare them to their characteristics.

We also had a lovely Chinese banquet prepared by our amazing Lil and Donna, and this year we had a guest appearance from Mr Cunningham who helped serve up our dinner.

As usual our ‘New Heights Dragon’ made an appearance, too.

All in all it was a great way to celebrate Chinese New Year and to learn a little about another culture.
