On Friday 23rd May 2025, New Heights School proudly welcomed governors, staff, external partners, and special guests to celebrate the official opening of our newly renovated sensory and meeting rooms at the Key Stage 3 provision. This exciting milestone reflects our ongoing commitment to creating a nurturing, inclusive environment where every student can thrive, reconnect with learning, and grow with confidence.

The event was attended by representatives from Children’s Charity Merseyside, An Hour for Others, and Everton in the Community, all of whom played key roles in making this project a success.

We extend special thanks to Children’s Charity Merseyside for their generous funding, and to An Hour for Others for providing a fantastic team who helped kick-start the transformation with a full day of painting.

The ceremony commenced with an inspirational talk from Mr Ron Noon, a local Public historian, former senior lecturer at Liverpool John Moore’s University and storyteller. Ron has been actively involved in outreach projects on Liverpool Working class lives and experiences. Ron shared his own personal experiences of teaching History for four decades and his knowledge and views of various educational pathways.

We were also honoured to welcome Liverpool FC legend Sammy Lee and Everton hero Graham Stuart, who have graciously lent their names to the two new suites. Their presence, stories, and words of encouragement were an inspiration to our students, symbolising the values of resilience, teamwork, and aspiration that we strive to foster in our school community.

The sensory room offers a calm, supportive space designed to meet the diverse needs of our students, while the renovated meeting room now provides a more welcoming environment for collaboration with external professionals. Together, these spaces represent our holistic approach to education – nurturing not just academic achievement but also emotional well-being.

As we officially opened the rooms with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, the sense of community, care, and shared purpose was felt by all. These rooms are more than just new spaces – they are a testament to what can be achieved when people come together with passion, creativity, and belief in the potential of every young person.
